Most likely an easter egg. I think having a ton of kerbals scurrying around the floor of the VAB would cause a hit in performance, and if not, I'm sure we all know how often they end up clipped inside of each other or inside of your ship.

Granted, but there's no longer any reason to. It becomes a useless skill. I wish it would snow where I live. -

The Ultimate Jool 5 Challenge Continued
Kimera Industries replied to JacobJHC's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
I did not. The most recent, not deleted quicksave was the one that was accidentally loaded. Yeah. I just learned that the hard way. I just learned that too. That really should be fixed. -

Granted, but the sight of such a scene blinds you. I wish I knew what was going on, all the time. -
The Brain Freeze And the Voyage of VICCTER: An Elcano Rover Some time ago, I was thinking of some mission ideas in KSP. Then it hit me: Minmus is ice cream. If an ice cream store were there, it would have unlimited resources. And so came The Brain Freeze: A state-of-the-art ice cream making facility, for Minmus! And an Elcano rover that happened to be in the same save. The Brain Freeze has landed! Now it's time... for dessert! In theory, someday the crew will return. Until then, their landing site would be the focus of a voyage never before accomplished by our space agency: an Elcano. Elcano is where you circumnavigate a celestial body by either land or sea. It's very hard, and I figured Minmus would be a good starting point, as it is small and very flat. But you can't do an Elcano if you don't have a rover there, so it was time to launch BERT. VICCTER is now ready for a grand undertaking. Now it just needs to be driven... ...If I ever get around to it.

Journey of the Avocado- a Jool 5 Mission!
Kimera Industries replied to Kimera Industries's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
Trapped In A Tin Can Next up was the crew module. I could have launched the crew later, but the whole docking process is very slow, and I need to complete this mission before the end of this year. So I launched the crew with the crew module itself, because I can. "I believe this nation should commit itself, before this year is out, of landing a kerbal on all of Jool's moons and returning him safely to Kerbin." *Aide whispers frantically in ear* "Of landing a kerbal on all of Jool's moons." A crew of 6 was launched with this module, and another one will be launched with the lander, for a total of 7. Well, these kerbals better have brought some great games with them, because they will be stuck in their two modules for a very, very long time. Oh wait, all they have to do is bring KSP with them and time will pass by in an instant... Coming up next on Journey of the Avocado: The "Guac" Lander!- 33 replies

The Sky is Not the Limit - UPDATE: NEW THREAD OUT!
Kimera Industries replied to TwoCalories's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
This is awesome! I am a bit of a vexillology nerd, and I can say, this... this is perfection. Keep it simple: check Use meaningful symbolism: check Use 3 or 4 basic colors: check No lettering or seals: Normally, words on a flag are bad news, but in this case, I will let it slide, since it's so tastefully done and this is more of a seal/logo anyway. Be distinctive or be related: check (Adapted from the Good Flag, Bad Flag guidelines) All the threads I'm following are getting new logos... perhaps I should continue the trend.- 217 replies

KSP2 EA Grand Discussion Thread.
Kimera Industries replied to James Kerman's topic in KSP2 Discussion
I sincerely hope those three star systems are the limit. If KSP2 has too many solar systems, it'll lead to many, many players being overwhelmed, especially ones like me who feel a compulsion to land on every body in the solar system. I'm fine with addons or DLCs adding whatever they want, but I hope there aren't too many star systems in the stock game. -

The Ultimate Jool 5 Challenge Continued
Kimera Industries replied to JacobJHC's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
I have a question concerning my Jool 5, a link to which can be found in my signature. I was preparing to launch another module to my mothership, a simple one just to top off the monopropellant tanks. I usually make quicksaves pretty frequently, and my procedure for every launch is to delete most of the previous quicksaves from other missions. As I did this, I accidentally loaded one of those quicksaves I was trying to delete, and in it, my mothership only had the nuclear tug built. "No problem." I thought, "I'll just load persistent." I thought. Well, persistent had autosaved, so my most recent quicksave was that of the mothership having only the nuclear tug. As you can imagine, I was very frustrated, as the docking process for each module was painfully slow due to the bad FPS and slow turn rate of the tug, and I didn't want to have to relaunch those three modules. I came across the best solution to recover my work: I would use alt+f12 to rendezvous each module with the station, then re-dock it. I didn't use the cheat menu for anything else, all I did was complete the station to the point it was before. As I post more of my mission in the mission report, you will be able to see that I am capable of launching those modules and docking them. The only mission required will be the one to top off the tanks, as it was before. Is this OK under the rules of the challenge? If it's not, then I will relaunch and dock all of those modules without cheats, but I'd rather not. -
Progress 1 A space station's gotta have snacks, and that's exactly the purpose of the new Progress spacecraft. The basic Korolev design has been improved upon, to the point where no crew is required at all! Wait... It's fitted with a larger docking port, so larger individual items can be shipped to the space station, with no assembly required! The disadvantage is that there can't be any direct Korolev-Progress docking, but that's why Salyut has two different docking mechanisms. Progress will now rendezvous with the station. Progress-1 has docked flawlessly with Salyut. The supplies on board will keep the crew fed and with plenty of science experiments to complete when they arrive. The crew mission will be Korolev 11, to be launched several weeks after Korolev 10. Coming up next: Korolev 10!

The lander is complete. Several landings, with dedicated ISRU equipment. Ceres Station will be built in LKO, and then launched to Dres. Not sure if I should use chemical or nuclear, it depends on how big it ends up being. Ceres will have two contra-rotating, inflatable gravity rings, and plenty of docking ports for future expansions. The lander, Harvest, (Cause Ceres/Demeter is the goddess of the harvest and plants and agriculture) will land at the Dres canyon, the billboard I landed previously, and probably the anomaly, if I can find it. Oh, and Ceres will come with a little scanning probe, to make its way to a polar orbit. I don't want to make this a craft development thread, so that's just the basic plan. I won't share anything else until the mission is in progress.

Journey of the Avocado- a Jool 5 Mission!
Kimera Industries replied to Kimera Industries's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
So I Made Some Improvements As I discovered in the first two missions, the Avocado is slow to turn in its current state. I decided to make a quick "Maneuvering Module"- Some reaction wheels, but more importantly, an SAS unit and monoprop tanks. The Pit only has an SAS module that's meant to be detached and blocks some of the nuclear engines. Also, it ran out of monopropellant, but a refuel will come later. The hardest part of the docking was just that Pit was so slow to turn. Look at that! Coming up next on Journey of the Avocado: The crew module!- 33 replies
