Infinite Aerospace
I think we'll get official word on what's happening just after Sagittarius A* has evaporated due to Hawking's Radiation to be honest. "аппаратчик" / "apparatchik" = specialist, servicing some apparat. P.S. Notice at the top photo: two men are in gas masks, one girl without it. Because beauty is more important. Also the man in the middle yet hasn't splashed the dirty and maybe hot oil from the bucket on his boots. The far man probably already has. The girl is probably told about. While it did not exactly state that KSP 2 is dead, KSP 2, being the sequel, has every reason to be above KSP 1 in the forum if it is still in active development. The fact that they will most likely be putting it below the KSP 1 forum is a very strong indication that it is dead.

Well no, the moderators only knows as much as you and me what the game is going through. If the mods figure the game is dead, then plans to rearrange the forums aren't going to be the biggest clue that the game's keeled over.

Because why, exactly? If you go alphabetically or chronologically, no it shouldn't be first. 16 minutes ago, Aviator01 said: The fact that they will most likely be putting it below the KSP 1 forum is a very strong indication that it is dead Again, no. It could be in active development and they could do this. There is nothing really that says it has to be one way or the other based on non-factual observation. I want to be clear that I do not believe the game is going to remain in development after this week. I personally think the game is dead. But nothing that happens short of the company saying so means it is.
PDCWolf
1 hour ago, Scarecrow71 said: But nothing that happens short of the company saying so means it is. That's a very arbitrary line that's been proven both inconsistent and wrong by what T2 did to 2K Marin. The company doesn't owe anyone a statement, neither does anyone working under, and T2 is free to keep the corpse of IG and even PD under it open with no people in it, and by Steam's rules they're also free to keep the game in eternal early access. It's on the same territory as the agnostic argument: The only proof you allow is a direct word from the company, yet the company has no obligation (and since it's been almost 3 months, no intention) of communicating (discounting that one of the KSP2 producers proved that the T2 CEO was lying), so the only thing that can prove the game is dead in your argument could potentially never happen, so technically the game is never dead. Just replace the company with god and it's almost the agnostic argument word by word. It's unhealthy. Edited June 25 by PDCWolf

Add up 2+2, read between the lines, use your context clues. KSP2 development is halting and the development studio will be vacant after this week. We don't need an official statement to know this and, to answer the main thread question, I don't care for one at this point. The KSP2 community has clung onto every word this studio has said for nearly 5 years and even in it's dying days we still act like starving animals begging for them to tell us more. Reading this forum feels like constant deja-vu as I see the same tired arguments made as if it's an endless loop we have been trapped in since 2019. I think it's time we stop asking for, waiting for, and analyzing what the developers and/or studio have to say. Instead I would hope that we all can grow from this debacle, accept that it is over, and move on by supporting other pursuits.

Superfluous J
I think there are 2 things being conflated here that need to be separate. 1) Is KSP2 Dead*? 2) Is Dakota's post the thing that means KSP2 is dead? It seems many here are arguing 1) while the actual argument is 2) So people, let's speak up. Did or did you not think KSP2 was dead before Dakota's post, and did you change your mind because of it? *I hate that term. It was never alive so it can't be dead. It's been discontinued. So at least since the FS! announcement event on October 23, when they pretty much confirmed that their vision was mediocre (by both announcing a mediocre, puddle depth "roadmap feature" and not addressing the bankruptcy on the technical side at all), the game has been effectively dead. 6 hours ago, Superfluous J said: *I hate that term. You kind of proved my point with 2K Marin. TT canned the developers, and the studio has done nothing for years. But it was never officially shut down, so for all practical purposes, it's still open and available to develop games. Conventional wisdom says it's closed, but officially? 10 hours ago, PDCWolf said: The company doesn't owe anyone a statement, neither does anyone working under And I never said they did. I said that until they do say anything, nothing is official other than what we know - the developers are laid off, and IG is shut down. Neither of which means KSP2 or any related IP is dead. 10 hours ago, PDCWolf said: The only proof you allow is a direct word from the company, yet the company has no obligation (and since it's been almost 3 months, no intention) of communicating (discounting that one of the KSP2 producers proved that the T2 CEO was lying), so the only thing that can prove the game is dead in your argument could potentially never happen, so technically the game is never dead. Just replace the company with god and it's almost the agnostic argument word by word. And the only proof you require that it is dead is that the studio is shut down. Which is arbitrary and dangerous considering Star Theory was shut down but the IP was moved to IG. There is nothing that says that cannot happen here. 8 hours ago, RileyHef said: Come on, people. Add up 2+2, read between the lines, use your context clues. Show me where it's been officially stated and I'll let it go. Can't do that? Then there is nothing that says it is dead. I'll use conventional wisdom and agree with you that the game is probably not going to go any farther than it has to this point. And while I'm not stupid enough to believe it isn't dead, the FACT is that we don't know one way or the other for sure. 8 hours ago, kerbiloid said: If a fish is floating at the surface of the fishtank, it doesn't mean that it's dead, maybe its just sleeping. Did or did you not think KSP2 was dead before Dakota's post, and did you change your mind because of it? I thought KSP2 was in serious jeopardy after For Science! was released to some fanfare that went really quiet after it was determined how railroaded the mission sequence was. Couple that with all of the persistent bugs from day 1, and you can see that it never looked good. Again, I believe in conventional wisdom, and it LOOKS like the IP is dead. And I hold no hope that it will be revived, either by PD, some other internal publisher/studio, or being sold to an outsider. 12 minutes ago, PDCWolf said: I've been very clear... and actually I feel a little bit vindicated about it, that anyone who saw the launch numbers and reception knew they had very little (if any) time to turn 180º, and literally nothing of value happened in that time to change the image of the game. So at least since the FS! announcement event on October 23, when they pretty much confirmed that their vision was mediocre (by both announcing a mediocre, puddle depth "roadmap feature" and not addressing the bankruptcy on the technical side at all), the game has been effectively dead. Something we agree upon. The studio - whether through their own fault OR through faulty management at TT OR through a combination of both - fouled this one up. Royally. Which has caused the game to be on nothing more than life support since 0.1.5, with very little substance being provided. Still not dead officially, but pretty darned close. 14 minutes ago, PDCWolf said: It should be clear by now that indeed, Early Access "launch" was looked at by suits and the studio as any other launch. Really the only people defending that "early access is not release" were customers trying to pour some water on the fire. And this game reinforces, at least to me and my own pocketbook, why one should never throw out money for an EA game. I've done it several times in the last year - KSP2, Juno, KitHack - and all have been mediocre at best. KitHack is a fun time-waster with no real substance, and Juno is...I can't even put into words how disappointing it has become. Like KSP2, such potential being wasted. It just simply doesn't hold my attention the same way KSP1 did (and to be clear, someone else's mileage may vary on this, and if it does, I truly hope you are living your best Juno life playing it). I wish it did, but it doesn't. Anyhow, I've digressed. EA simply isn't worth it - in my own, non-scientific, unverified opinion. Especially when the cost to get involved is the same as a full price game ($50). And especially when the developers stop talking to the community a few weeks after launch.
